Electric cars in India The trend
for electric vehicles in India has taken a steady pace. With the Indian government
giving tempting subsidies and incentives on taxes, the Indian buyers are having
a good option to buy an electric vehicle and ditch the conventional oil burning
automobile. In 2021, there are not quite a few options available in India, but
still, it is still a worth of a try if you have the budget. Many upcoming electric cars in India are in a queue for their launch. Let’s see all the
electric vehicle options available in India.

1.Tata Tigor EV
The first offering is from the home-grown car manufacturer Tata motors and it’s the most affordable opti and cheapest electric car in India available right now. The Tigor EV is available in three variants- XE+, XM+ & XT+. The vehicle gets a 21.3 kWh battery which is capable of producing 40 bhp of power and 105 Nm of peak torque. Claimed range is of 213 km. It gets the feature of AC charging which takes around 11.5 hours as well as DC fast charging which takes only 2 hours to reach 80 %. In terms of safety, it gets ABS with EBD and dual airbags as standard (driver airbag only for XE+). In terms of infotainment features, it gets a five-inch touchscreen, 8 speakers, etc. It gets a warranty of 3 years or 1.25 kms. The price starts from 10.58 lakhs which goes up to 10.89 lakhs ex showroom.2.Tata Nexon EV
The next one is from the same manufacturer i.e., Tata motors. It’s the same vehicle which is available in petrol and diesel trims but with an electric powertrain. The car is available in three variants- XM, XZ+ & XZ+ LUX. It gets a 30.2 kWh battery which produces a power of 127 bhp and 245 Nm of torque. It has an ARAI claimed range of 312 km. it comes with an AC charging system which takes around 8 hours for a full charge and the DC fast charging takes around 1 hour to reach from 0 to 60 %. It gets the connected car feature with which one can get all the car data in their smartphones. Infotainment features includes 7-inch Harman touch-based infotainment system with 8 speakers. In terms of safety, it gets a 5-star NCAP safety rating and all those features included in the standard gasoline based Nexon. The price starts from 13.99 lakhs for the XM variant and goes up to 16.40 lakhs for the XZ+ LUX variant.3. MG ZS EV
The only electric vehicle offered by Morris-Garages is the ZS EV. Available in Excite and Exclusive variants, it gets a 44.5 kWh battery which produced a peak power of 143 bhp and a peak torque of 353 Nm. The range which the car can give is of 419 km. the charging system is based on an AC charger which can charge the vehicle in about 8 hours and a DC fast charger does the work in job in 50 mins to juice up the battery from 0 to 80%. The ZS EV gets an all-new iSmart tech with hinglish voice commands. It gets an 8-inch touchscreen system, panoramic sunroof, cruise control. In terms of safety, it packs in 6 airbags, hill start assist, hill descend control, pedestrian warning system, etc. The price starts at 21 lakhs which goes up till 24.18 lakhs for the Exclusive variant.4. Hyundai Kona
The Korean manufacturer was one of the first to bring a full-fledged electric vehicle in India as a CBU and later it was manufactured at the company’s Chennai factory. The car is available in two variants- premium and premium dual tone. It is powered by a 39.2 kWh battery for the short-range variant which produces a power of 133 bhp and claims a range of 300 km. the long-range variant gets a battery of 64 kWh which produces a power of 201 bhp with a range of 470 km. the 39.2 kWh battery takes around 6 hours to charge while a DC fast charger does the same job in 54 minutes to take it from 0 to 80%. The 64-kWh battery takes 9 hours to get fully charged. The car is priced at 23.78 lakhs to 24.02 lakhs.5. Mercedes-Benz EQC
The electric vehicle offered by the german auto manufacturer is for those who are looking for a premium segment electric vehicle. It is available in only a single variant and that is 400 4MATIC. The SUV is powered by an 80-kWh battery which gives power to not just one but two motors, one on each axle. The motor produces a peak power of 408 PS and 760 Nm of torque. The claimed range is of 450 km. The charging is taken care by an AC charger which can charge the battery in 21 hours. While the DC fast charger takes it from 0 to 100% in flat 1.5 hours. As this has got the star badging, it is no doubt that it comes with some of its own luxuries. Two 12.3 inches screens with MBUX infotainment system, touchpads on steering wheel, 13 speaker Burmester sound system, 64 level ambient lighting, etc. This luxury electric car is priced at 1.04 crore rupees ex showroom.6. Jaguar I-Pace
The last but not the least offering is from none other than the JLR group. The Sports electric beast is offered in 3 variants- S, SE & HSE. It is powered by a 90-kWh battery pack which produces a whopping 389 bhp of power and a staggering 696 Nm of torque. As it is a sports car, it takes only 4.8 seconds to reach a speed of 0-100 km/hr. The range is claimed at 470 km which is a really good figure considering it is a sports car. the charging is taken care by an AC charger which can take 10 hours to charge the car and a DC charger takes just around 40 minutes to juice it up from 0 to 80%. Some features include a Meridian sound system, leather sports seats, etc. the sports car is priced at a jaw dropping 1.06 crore rupees to 1.12 crore rupees ex showroom.
